In 1947, shortly after proudly serving the United States in World War II, Albert Thornton with his wife, Lorine, opened a hardware and appliance store in Henning, TN. Growing up during the Great Depression and living through the Second World War, they knew the value of hard work and customer service. A few years later the family business moved to Ripley, TN.

To follow in the footsteps of his father, in 1992, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thornton, Micky, purchased a well established furniture and appliance business in Covington, TN from its retiring owner. Thornton’s A.T. & F. (appliances, televisions and furniture) was born! Raised in the home furnishings world, he knew how to serve his new community.

Thanks to the faithful support of our community, Micky was able to extend the front of the building, refresh the appearance, and enlarge the warehouse to provide a bigger and better selection, completely update the interior and change the name to Thornton’s Home Furnishings. We offer easy financing (we carry many of our own accounts). We proudly offer the most comprehensive show floor in the area. We carry the most extensive collection of furniture, appliances, Jamison bedding, and electronics found anywhere in Tipton County. We offer professional delivery and installation of most items, and we will even haul off your previously used home furnishings.
